Free to enter • Global online challenge (18+) • Win a $1800 14x5" Pearl Philharmonic Aluminium Snare Drum plus MUCH more • The WPG Rhythm & Pulse Challenge is designed to build timing, groove and musicality.
Presented by the World Percussion Group (WPG) to celebrate their 10-year anniversary tour. Backing track + score provided below. Open worldwide to drummers and percussionists aged 18 and over. Prizes can be awarded at any time during the competition window so upload soon to be in the mix! Distribution commences 15 September 2025.
Spot prizes may be awarded at any time based on the judging rubric below; all main prizes are decided after the closing date.
You can perform the Rhythm & Pulse Challenge on ANY instrument - the score is simply a guide to spark your creativity.
How To Enter the rhythm & pulse challenge
1) Follow @worldpercussiongroup on Instagram.
2) Download the score, backing track and practice click track.
3) Learn the piece (~2 minutes). Submit either a 60-second clip or the full performance (judges score your best continuous 60 seconds).
4) Record a vertical video. Good lighting; make sure both instrument + backing track with click are audible.
5) Post to Instagram, TikTok or YouTube Shorts using #WPGChallenge2025 and tag @worldpercussiongroup making us a collaborator. Nominate and @mention 1 percussionist in your caption. Please only @mention someone who is a percussionist or who would genuinely be interested.

Judging Rubric
- Timing/Pulse accuracy - 40%
- Groove/feel - 25%
- Musicality/phrasing - 20%
- Creativity/interpretation - 15%
Judges score your best continuous 60 seconds.
Panel: WPG artists + invited guests (to be listed on this page soon). Judges will not score entrants with whom they have a conflict (current private students, close family, etc.).
Viral Award Metrics
Measured across Instagram/TikTok/YouTube Shorts during the contest window: views, likes, comments, shares/reposts, saves, and duets/stitches. Anti-fraud checks apply (no bought/fake engagement).
Dates
Opens 3 Sep 2025, closes 1 Nov 2025 00:00 GMT; results by 15 Nov 2025.
Eligibility
Void where prohibited. Entrants must be 18+. One entry per person (you may appear in others’ videos).
Existing WPG Alumni are permitted to submit a performance however will be exempt from receiving official prizes.
Rights & Music Use
Use the provided backing track with click. You must own performance/recording rights. By entering, you grant WPG a non-exclusive right to repost/feature your entry with credit.
Privacy & Data
We collect your name, email, social handle and entry link through Google Forms, solely for contest administration. See our Privacy Policy. Data retained up to 12 months; winners’ names may be published.
Winner Contact
Winners will be contacted by DM/email within 7 days; if no response within 7 days, an alternate winner may be selected.
Prize Logistics
Prizes are as described; WPG may substitute of equal/greater value if necessary. Winners cover shipping, import duties & taxes.

- We will cross-check: form submitted, account follows @worldpercussiongroup, and a valid tag comment exists.
